Match Format bellow.*********************************************************************************
Pair Fire:
Pair Fire is potentially the future of long range rifle competition, and is used internationally. Now is a great time to get familiar. But, unlike the V2 Finale as seen on YouTube that popularizes the pair firing double elimination format that would take days to accomplish, this is shot as three matches with aggregate score deciding winners. It will be fast paced. We’ll likely be done between late morning and noon, depending on the number of competitors and the number of relays. Competitors are matched into a pair, let’s use Gene and Mike for this example. Gene shoots his first shot, Mike announce the score, Gene acknowledges “Thank you”, and now Mike has 45 seconds to shoot, Gene announces the score, Mike Acknowledges “Thank you”, and the process continues with both shooters alternating their shots for record. The big benefit is neither competitor gets the better or worse wind condition as often happens in string fire.
Blow off:
Yes, there will be a one minute blow off to foul your barrel. Don’t shoot at the target, aim at the dirt above the target.
Sighters:
Match 1 has 5 mandatory sighters.
Matches 2 and 3 each have two convertible sighters, so if both are X or 10 use them as shots towards record.
Crossfire:
If you receive a stray shot, or your shot is not registered, stop shooting! The match director will remove the received crossfire from the recipient’s score. If you shoot and your shot is not registered, and identified on another target, it is scored as a miss. ShotMarker has some tools that allows the match director to possibly find an off target shot. At the discretion of the match director, a provisional shot may be allowed. When a cross fire occurs, yell out loudly “crossfire” so the match director can assist.
How long will it take:
Each match has two competitors sending 15 shots for record with an allowed time of 45 seconds for each shot, so possibly around 20 minutes per match. Rifles need to cool between matches. Depending on the final competitor count, we may have more than two relays, but regardless whether is rifle cooling time, or more competitor shooting time, it’s all roughly the same the same amount of time. So, probably two to three hours including announcing match winners and prizes.
