Rings for savage

James,
Better yet, get the Burris ZEE Signature rings--they fit on Weaver bases or picatiny rails.
They have the pastic inserts with 2 huge advantages.
1. They don't scratch your scope, and they hold it just fine)
2. Burris makes off-center plastic inserts that you can use to keep your scope adjustment in the center of its range, and use the inserts to change point of impact, and get it very close to zero.

I know a very competative 600 yard IBS shooter that has a NF NXS 12-42x mounted with the 30mm version. If they work for him, they work for me.

Ditto for me on the Burris Signature Zee rings: the only kind I've bought for the last 5 to 6 years. Just sighted-in a Zeiss 6.5-20x Conquest, and with the limited windage adjustment that is available, was able to keep the windage centered, 15 moa in each direction), by using the off-set ring inserts. Just too many advantages to not use them.

I had a set of the Burris Zee rings and gave them away, I don't really care for them.
I have never had the B-Square rings mark a scope or had the scope slip either.
The only thing I don't like about the B-Square rings is that the bottom screw is a little soft.

Here's another vote for the Signature Zee rings.

An example of how useful the plastic inserts are: I took a scoped rifle to the 600yd range for the first time. Ran out of elevation trying to get 600 and had to hold on the top of the target frame to put em in the black. Changed the insert to 20moa, took something off the scope elevation, then was back in business. Ordinarily, this situation would entail going home and ordering a 20MOA rail, but I was able to fix it quickly due to the Burris rings-and of course the fact that I had the insert kit in the bag too. I realize your EGW rail is probably 20MOA already, but the easy adjustability is still a benefit IMO.

jamesh--
We are recommending the Burris Signature Z rings, not the normal Burris Z rings.
Big difference between the 2 sets......
