ring marks on a scope ?

Is there any way to remove slight ring marks on a scope ?

there is no dent and the marks are very slight, I have to really look to see them

if it is aluminum marks, non chlorinated brake cleaner will take it off. if you over tightened them and it dug in nothing will...... jim

I have tried every kind of touch up and most don't match..... you need to match the texture and it will be acceptable.... but not perfect..... jim

BC's stuff has always worked well on the ones I've touched up, but most were faint lines.

Yes, it's often still visible, but I've had some completely disappear.

But that's why I added my "good enough" remark. It all depends on your level of desired perfection. If it's bothersome to see imperfections, you can also get wider rings to cover more of the area.

Or use Burris sig. or learn to break the inside edges and lap or bed and torque to the right value and not get marks..... jim

If you want to see an example of how not to tighten rings or the over torquing or how to put ring marks on a scope ..... Look on the IBS home page look at the rings on the gun they chose to display..... If the outside of the ears on a ring comes together, you just marked the scope by over torquing ...... jim

Ring marks devalue a scope enough that you could have bought Sig rings and made money. ;}

I see were some over tighten them so much that they squeeze the whole tube diameter. A real plus for accuracy and value....... lol..... jim

I just moved a Bushnell 4200 Tactical 6-24 from one Savage to another. Luckily, both rifles have Picatinny rails and didn't even have to remove the rings. Dropped right in.

Discretion the better part of valor.

I really like the Burris Signature rings too. They even have a more beefy design available now.
