Ring in the barrel. Seen this?

I know these are some crappy pictures, best I can do right now, but checking over a newly purchased Savage take off barrel. When cleaning it, I felt a slight tug when going over a spot about half way down the bore. Stuck my automotive rearendascope in there and I see what looks like a ring in the bore.

I have drawn some red lines to show you where it is.

Yeah, I knew trying to post pictures with this camera would probably be a waste of time. I won't have a bore scope until next week. Maybe I'll postpone installing it until after checking it with a real scope just in case I may need to send it back to who I bought it from

I'd see how it shoots. Seen plenty of pics of what looked like a horror show they looked like a sewer pipe or a pic from the Hubble telescope and they were accurate.

Did a little internet searching and found this.

You'll see it 6 seconds and at 49 seconds.

I wouldn't have even stuck the scope down there if I hadn't felt the spot. You can even see it when looking down the bore with a naked eye.

I got one like this...6.5 Creedmoor takeoff.

Almost all of the bore looked like this. I bought it to rechamber to 260ai. I'm glad i got my borescope before wasting a bunch of components!

Take the fluid out of the barrel ! Then reevaluate. I think your just seeing a reflection . I've been looking thru a Borescope of some kind for over 30 yrs . Too many make the mistake of reflections being an imperfection. Dry bore . Never scrape a barrel on looks unless it's pitted , ringed or gouged .
Use the scope to check your cleaning methods and hot TARGET to check your barrels condition.

This is like the bullet thread- that is a factory barrel. It is what it is. Its not a $500+ custom hand chambered hand lapped masterpiece.

No apology needed....I never seen a new barrel so bad...I bought a 6.5cm after that and it looked fine. They must have filled the bore with rocks before they pulled the button through on that one.
