Rimfire recoil lugs

If he measured one that would be good enough as confirmation that they all do not touch in the back. No offense Tim S but the same could be asked of you, have you measured any to check if they do touch?
No I haven't, although I have a stock inlet for a Bleiker. The fact remains that the rear face could be used, whether Bleiker/G&E use this.

I find single word replies rather dismissive.

More relevantly, I presume the EC Universal stock won't have any contact.

Has anyone seen it to be detrimental to having a recoil lug? Whether it be at tang, between barrel\action, epoxied into bedding, ect. I haven't so we use them to be sure.

Lots of theories, maybe right and maybe wrong...but I've not seen empirical evidence either way. I've seen/done some that MIGHT be relative but we weren't looking for that specifically and I wouldn't draw any hard conclusions related to a recoil lug or its position as being better or worse from it and I can imagine several factors come into play that might go either way to many assumptions about it. My SWAG is that a glue in would be best.

That is a good question and I am sure this will raise a few eyebrows.
Both Bleiker and Grunig & Elmiger do not use a recoil lug on their smallbore actions.
The purpose of the "floating" recoil lugs on rimfires is to register the action in the stock for repeatable positioning and minimizing bi-lateral stress when tightening the action screws, resulting is a "fair" fit that doesn't require the more expensive manufacturing process of bedding. The older rifles benefitted from it the most as they were wood stocks with rather "generous" inletting for production ease. The same concept also applies to synthetic stocks, which is even better with improved tolerances afforded.

If I had a rimfire with that setup, I'd just bed it directly to the rifle with aluminum pillars along with a full bedding job. That will lock it in, register the action, nearly eliminate stress and dampen the bad vibes. All good.
