Right hand stock/Left hand action?

If you're a "righty", you remove your right hand from the stock to work the bolt. ???
Why not a right hand stock with a "left hand" action?
You're not doing anything with your left hand anyway, right?
Tried it with a "ambi" stock and liked the feel so I tried it with a thumbhole stock. Right hand stays in the thumbhole grip and the left (free) hand works the bolt and feeds the ammo.
Picked up a Richard's Micro-Fit "right hand" benchrest thumbhole stock, plugged the right bolt handle cut and recut to the left side. I chose the black and grey laminate to make coloring the right bolt handle plug a little easier.
Both left and right Savage actions are the same except for the bolt handle.
Savage Model 12 CF "lefty" in 6BR with a single shot sled from Sharp Shooter Supply installed on a Whidden V Block.
Something I just had to try and so far, I love it. ;D

All of us who shoot from the left, have been doing it for years, the other way around...shooting left, with a right bolt and port. It is a very comfortable way for me to shoot, in any position where I am not holding up the rifle with my non-trigger hand. In the past, I have mentioned to several friends that since shooting a CF varmint rifle offhand, is an unlikely scenario, that the flip of what I like so well would make excellent sense (start with a L.L Remington short action for a varmint rifle build for a RH shooter), if a factory action is being used for a custom build. Since none of them had ever seen it done before, they were not interested. Conformity is the enemy of innovation. Shooters mostly want to try harder, rather than make a substantial change. (IMO) Since seeing your rifle, I guess that I will have to stop saying that ;-) Good for you. Your thinking out of the box has paid off.

Your configuration always made sense to me. I like keeping the shooting hand in alignment with the stock. The left hand can do the bolt work and round stuffing. If you want to get real fast, grab a round BEFORE you extract the previous round. Hold it between your middle and third fingers. Drop it in the chamber (as soon as the empty is ejected) by pushing with your thumb.
