Just finished up a little project on my new AG Composites 'Chalk Branch' rifle stock. I milled a shallow .130" recessed slot to the fore end. Cut a piece of picatinny rail to proper length. Machined it down to get a low profile in the slot then left it full size on the front to give a nice shoulder piece that wraps the fore end tip. Next, I dilled holes to match the dual swivel stud attachments and recessed the front screw to allow for use of rail further forward. Finally bedded rail in the slot with Marine Tex for a perfect mating surface and finish painted the rail.
The design helps to maintain the low profile fore end of the Chalk Branch stock. Allows for attachment of a bipod further forward to deliver better rifle stability. More shoulder clearance of the bipod when carrying rifle with a sling. And also allows for attachment of 3" Delrin bag rider for shooting off a bench rest.
Turned out pretty good
Heres some photos.
