Rifle Slings

Does anyone know of a rifle sling that allows the hunter to carry the rifle like a back pack so if you need to crawl, it’ll stay put?

Thanks in advance.

Biathlon shooters have a sling like that. If you Google biathlon rifle sling, you'll come up with sites like this:

Can I assume that if you are crawling, you are stalking, and if you are stalking you are getting to a advantageous position to shoot and being stealthy while doing so correct?

In my opinion it would be a Herculean task to remove a rifle from that type of sling and do it without making noise or movement. I would find another way.

In the past, one of the ways I have done the low crawl, was to grab the front sling attachment point along with the sling in my hand, then just quietly slid the rifle along as I crawled.

Thats just one better way to crawl with weapon than the backpack type sling you describe.

YMMV

Yep and this is exactly some thing that makes this really tough to figure out.

I’ve used the “drag the gun along” method quite a bit and it works well. When it doesn’t work is in soft snow. It seems like you’re pushing your rifle through the snow bank while crawling.

I may just stick with it though, getting out of a sling could cause an issue.

I have stalked in snow for 50 years, been looking at Outdoors Specialty Products, ultimate rifle sling. If the soft snow depth is less than my bipod height, I will move forward setting the rifle ahead on the bipod and I move on my hands and knees or slide. This will not work in deep snow. I try and pick a route that gets me to a shooting position, always out of sight of coyote, but within range for the shooting conditions. Low wind, noisy snow = longer shots(250-300 yards).

If you're not crawling real far, grab the front sling swivel and rest the forearm in the crook of your elbow, keeping the rifle close to your body.
You could probably make some kind of back pack sling with fastex buckles that you clip the rifle to and then unclip them and gently slide it off your back

Soft rifle case called a Drag Bag.
