Rifle Pricing Trends -- CZ52 and Others

Ok! My son many years ago got a CZ52 in cosmoline, cleaned it up and gave it to me for father's day. What a nice gift! Modern? No! Functional? You bet, and it looked brand new to me.

We went shooting and I thanked him, he said forget it I got it along with this Russian Tokarov T33 (I think) both delivered for $320. It looked new to me also.

So my stupid question. Are people really paying $400+ for the CZ52 today?

Probably.

They're paying $500 for Mosin 91/30 rifles when you could get a crate of them for that much 15 years ago.

Wow, my new Glock was $515.
Gen 1 Glocks keep going up in price because they don't make them anymore, and neither is CZ making model 82 pistols.

In the 80s you could buy a nice Springfield 1903 for $100.

I wish I had bought ten Swiss K-31 rifles when they were $99 each at Big 5.

See where this is going?

I got a Gen 4 Glock and thought that the price was fair. I do have a 30 Carbine I inherited and another one I paid $100 for and they're worth well over $1,000.

I guess it has to be collectable because the features and ergonomics of the CZ52 are behind the times. I guess my Bulgarian Makarov is pricey no too.

It's shooting the 7.62x25 Tokarov round, also called the 30 Mauser. I believe about 1,600 FPS w8th an 85 grain projectile.
Not all 30 Mauser will function in the CZ 52. The old Russian Mauser would work but the Czech that I had would not. The Czech 7.62x52 is SMOKIN HOT though

Yeah, a hundred bucks bought you a nice surplus rifle a few years back, but it also bought you a nice bag of groceries. That same bag of groceries is four hundred bucks today. People thought there was no inflation because the Fed kept rates at zero but that was an illusion. We have a lot of real inflation and it's not getting better.

Thanks guys cleary I didn't know how well liked the handgun was. Not to be a jerk but my boy got his Tokarov, my CZ, then I went and bought 2,000 rounds of ammo for like $275.
