Rifle Display Box/Case

So I’d like to build a display box/case that would hold a rifle in the horizontal position, glass front/door, and internal lighting.

Im thinking of using some small led light strips to illuminate it. Haven’t figured out what to use to hold/support the rifle, anyone have something similar that you could share some pictures or ideas?

Old wooden military rifle shipment crate. Seen em done out of mosin nagant crates.. look online for pics

A buddy of mine had me build a crude looking box from packing crate/skid Recycled lumber. He used 30-06 empties over some dowels to hold the old Springfield up there. I never got around to building him one for his 45 acp. That looked pretty cool up near his old stone fireplace. mike in ct

I would add that it depends on the rifle you are going to display. I wouldn’t want to display a 2019 rifle in a forty’s era case and vice versa.

Correct. I’m planning on just using some knotty Pine 1x6 or 8” for the boy. I’ll trim the front out with some casing or route a nice edge on it and stain it.

What rifle are you looking at displaying?

My grand plan is to make an individual box for 3 guns.

So my suggestions of background for boxes were as follows
Constitution =American flag, no exceptions
Tribal Skulls = Don't Tread on Me flag, it lends to the American flag.
Flames= Desert Cammo

Knowing a lil bit about color, opposing colors add contrast and brings object to the focal point.
E specially with soft background lighting

I also believe my choice might lend to the personality of the gun owner/owners.

Well I can certainly see why you would want to display these rifles. Absolutely beautiful.

So I agree with BC on the backgrounds except for the “Don’t treat on me”, they all have that snake which doesn’t seem to fit with the blue skulls gun, unless of course I’m finding the wrong images.

I think I’ve found what I will use for lighting:

which should work good to have a couple lights top and bottom hidden behind the face frame with the ability to dim way down for a soft light.

boxes are going to be around 60” L x 12-14” tall x 6” deep

Think I would put each of them in glass with polished aluminum frames. You can hide the LED light strips behind the aluminum.

Modified coat hooks. Larger one for the grip area and smaller one for the barrel.
