Rifle action

I am getting ready to build a custom 300 win mag and need some input guys. So far the only thing I have bought is the barrel. I bought a Broughton C-5 5.75 1 to 11 twist barrel "finished length with be 26 inches". I also have a browning A-bolt stalker action laying around the house. Will the Browning make a good action? I plan on using the rifle for long distance shooting and some hunting. Open for suggestions from A to Z

I'm not going to be able to go into detail, I've never rebarreled an A-bolt action. But if the bolt face and mag well are for a std mag and the action is long enough for the .300 WM, I wouldn't hesitate to use it. Stocks and triggers aren't as available as for some other actions and might limit your options, but so far my limited experience is that any good quality commercial action with a premium barrel,Broughton for instance)carefully installed, and bedded into a good stock, will shoot moa or less, sometimes a lot less. The .30 cal 11 twist will probably like bullets only up to about 200 gr, but I've been pleasantly surprised by 12 twist barrels that loved 200 gr bullets.

The receiver and bolt, as a minimum, need to be checked for straightness, perpendicular faces and locking lug contact before fitting a barrel.
