revolvers

Hi guys
I'm thinking of purchasing a revolver to compite in central fire precission and silohuettes.i know Smith Wesson Performance Center and rruger .There is some other good options?.
I appreciate your advice ,
Thanks a lot

I would seriously consider a Walther .32 long. I shot ISU Centerfire back in the `80s and this was pretty well the preferred pistol for that event as well as Rapidfire. The Walther has interchangeable barrels for .22 rimfire and .32 long.

The term Rapidfire replaced Silhouette in the `80s because Silhouette was considered to be politically incorrect - too bloodthirsty - I kid you not.

I believe he is talking about metallic silhouette, not paper silhouette. If so, you should look for a TC Contender for this sport - the rules have been written with this gun pretty much the only one that meets all the rules.

For precision pistol shooting the Walther would be great out to about 50 yards, but again you need to read the rules as it may not fit them.

freedom arms makes a super accurate and beautiful single action target model--10-12" barrel length globe front sight and other options.

The older Dan Wesson if you can find them or Freedom Arms. What Cal / range are you going to be shooting ?

Yes i want to buy a good revolver to shoot in centralfire competition and metallic silouettes, caliber 357 mag and 38

The older 8 3/8 Colt Pythons were good also .Non of the 3 I've mention are cheap tho 800-1500 $

i recently bought a ruger superblackhawk .44 mag with a 10.5 inch barrel 1-20" twist. im launching 340 grain rimrocks ahead of a load of 19.3 grains of H-110 and a win LR primer. getting 1330 fps. great accuracy. nothing wrong with that for long range steel plates. by the way, work up all loads, that load doesnt show any pressure in "my" revolver.

1) Freedom Arms (FA) 353 or
2) Dan Wesson (DW) 15VH or 715VH. (not Smith & Wesson)

Rugers are generally limiting due to triggers and overall quality. They are good super tough guns, but just not designed for the needs of a silhouette shooter.

I would not consider a S&W at all, Performance Center or not.

No revolver shoots like an FA or DW.
