Retirement Gift

I retired one year ago yesterday (Feb 14, 2017) this is what my wife bought as an official retirement gift for me and it showed up at my FFL's shop yesterday. Remington 40X Sporter Repeater....... Receiver was produced in 1977 according Remington, the barrel date code shows assembly in January 1979. Never could bring myself to pay the money this one brought, but my wife of 36 years decided I was worth it. (???)

Dude you are one lucky dude to become the owner of one of the rare repeaters! Has been on my wish list since if I remember correctly 96 or 97 after fondlying the only one I have ever seen in person at First Stop Gun in Rapid City, SD. Mark wouldn't put a price on it and stated he was keeping it for himself. IIRC at that time he had less than $700 into it on a fair sized collection he had bought. Oh, also super lucky to have a great woman whom after 36yrs still finds you worthy of such. She has got to be one special and thoughtful person. Congrats on both!!!!! Would like to call dibs on the repeater if a meteor falls from the sky on you in the next few days but with my health I'd have another stroke or my pacer would go completely south before I got to see it. :( To say I am a pessimist is kind of an understatement.

Again I hope the both of them warm your heart for many years to come!!

Respectfully,
Dennis

TheOtherZilla..... The scope on it currently is not what was on it in the photo. The one in the pic is 4X fixed. I put a Custom Shop 2.5-8x36 with screw in lense caps. I bought the scope from a member on Rimfire Central. I'll get some Conetrol rings and bases to replace the ones you see currently.

Very nice - love the stock on that rifle! Congratulations on your excellent marriage, retirement with 36 years of service, and beautiful and rare 40X. Life is good.
