reticle cross hair question

when looking through my scope for more than a few seconds the cross hair fades if you don't take a quick shot,. What causes this to happen ?

Crosshairs with a center dot eliminates the problem.

If it's just a few [say, less than 10] seconds, good chance the reticle isn't in focus. The reticle should be in sharp focus just when you glance. You should not have to 'focus' on it.

If more than 15-20 seconds, looking at anything after awhile will cause the image to 'burn out'.

^^^^ When performing this it is best done looking at the sky so you have only the reticle to focus on.

Maybe for you but it has done just the opposite for me.
I have two PSTII and two NF NX8 with that set up and not happy at all.
