My understanding from a friend is that the shutdown is temporary as they reevaluate people, processes and needs for the custom shop and they intend to reopen in the future.
I imagine that as with any ‘custom shop’ situation no matter the company it probably consumes more resources at a lower profit margin than any other department. That’s just the way one-off situations are in my experience. I believe their hope is that when it reopens in the future it will better meets the needs of their customers on all levels while still making sense for the company. I’ve been around some of those guys enough to know they really do care about the customer and hold onto some good core beliefs. Remember they’re truly the only large scale company I can readily think of in our industry that keeps their entire company and process inside the US with US workers and that’s not easy to do these days.
I’ve been somewhat reassured but not guaranteed it’s more a when and not an if, but that it would be quite a while before anything happened.I hope they reopen also. I've always been treated well by them. My call to them didn't leave any confidence that they would reopen.
