Results: Florida IBS 600 yard Championship 2019

Champion: Bart Sauter

Champion: 2nd Mark Niezabitowski Points tied. Position determined by group agg.

Champion: 3rd Terry Balding

Champion Light Gun Overall: Kevin Smith

Champion: Heavy Gun Overall: Bart Sauter

High Junior: Cory Tolksdorf

Small Match group: Roger Johnson Special award $100 by English Rifles

Appreciation drawing: Eric Allread $100 drawing donated by Doug Bell

These awards are based on the results of Saturday Match #3 only. Unfortunately Match #4 was cancelled. The worst Florida winter weather blew in early Sunday morning and continued thru the morning and afternoon accompanied by strong winds and higher gusts. The match committee voted to start the match if supported by a vote by the shooters. The shooters overwhelmingly voted to cancel the match. SOY year points will be as posted & forwarded to the IBS for Saturday's match.

We were all sad to see the Championship end this way, but common sense ruled the day. Full refunds for match and range fees will be offered to the entrants that prepaid for Sundays Match.

CaptainMal will post pictures and further comments on today's awards in a separate post.

Many thanks to the sponsors that supported the event:

Field & Cave Outfitters

Wheeler Accuracy

Vapor trails bullets

Barts bullets

Vortex shooting products

SEB rifle rest products

Accuracy with RAS Tuners Bostrom Gunsmithing

Sierra bullets

Hornady

English Rifles

Edgewood shooting bags and gun leather

Midway USA

Also my many thanks to our great Match committee and their families, without their support and hard work this match could not have happened.

Detailed individual scores and aggs. will be posted here later in the week after I can tabulate and add the correct equipment listing.

Your humble servant, Steve Krauss

Bart and Mark actually were separated by the aggregate tie-breaker.

Just a question for all of the competitors: Did you notice any impacts that you could attribute to shooting in the versus wind impacts? Lower or higher centerline? TIA

The wind was very switch’s but a left to right condition would move the bullet right and up! When the wind would blow more right to left the bullets moved left and down.

HUMAN INTEREST ----

Terry Balding gave his prize table ticket win to Cory Tolksdorf. Cory is a 15-year-old that shot well in the shoot. Cory chose a pair of binoculars provided by Vortex. Here is a rather rough photo of Cory choosing his prize with Terry watching.

Later I had a chance to look through those binoculars, which was hard to do as Cory was just elated with the prize. Those Vortex Diamondback binoculars just "popped" with brightness and clarity to me. Perfect alignment and focus was an outstanding feature. Sure thank Vortex and all the other sponsors.

There were other "side prizes". Dana English/English Rifles provided a $100 reward for best group won by Roger Johnson.

Competitive shooter Doug Bell provided a $100 drawing prize that was won by Eric Allread.

Look at the sponsor list printed on the back of the T shirts made for the shooters to learn more about those that sponsored the shoot.

FYI regarding the vote to not try and finish in the conditions. My rain gauge showed almost 4" of rain by later Sunday night. It not only did not stop, it seemed to increase through the day.

Sorting the IBS match registration forms is a mess. Shooter scribble almost unrecognizable. I will fill in the spread sheet and post here when done. May post the first 10 places only. Other things more pressing at the time.

Hang in there.

Bart Sauter won, BRA, with Bart bullets;) 6mms rule the day in BRA or Dasher mostly.
2nd place Mark Niezabitowski tied with Bart on points with a "vintage" Savage Dasher.
3rd Terry Balding 6BR, shooting Roy Hunter Bullets
