Resizing pictures

You all may not have had the same problems I had or already found a way, but here is a solution that is posted on another forum.
This works very well for me.

http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/im...windows-vista/

Just click on the link, scroll down on the right side where it says image resizer and click to download.

Once it downloaded (very quick) open your picture files right click and select resize. Choose the size the (middle selection works well for this forum) and another image will appear in the same file with a new name. The name will be your picture name + the small, medium or large size that you selected.

Please disregard this if there is already something better to use.

irfanview from www.irfanview.com works fine too.

From top menu, select Image > Resize/Resample > Click 640x480 on right

Or set custom dimensions (lock aspect ratio) if you want a different size.

Remember, you want to both reduce file size (in kilobytes) and image size. We like photos under 150 kb and under 800x800 pixels.

For those with more demanding needs or who are more adventuresome, The GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program) is a very powerful program available for almost all common platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux). It has about 75% of Photoshop's capabilities and is developed by a team of programmers around the world as open source software. That means that it is free to download and use. Comprehensive tutorials are available as well as online help. This is what I have used for years to manage images, both personally and professionally. Give it a try, the price is right.

Absolutely Easiest Resizing EVER!

Here is what I think is the simplest possible photo resizer for Windows PCs, and it comes direct from Microsoft.

The Image Resizer MS PowerToy lets you resize images with ease. Just right-click the photo file icon and select "Resize Pictures".

You then have a choice of:

Small 640x480 | Medium 800x600 | Large 1024x768

For our forum, select 640x480 and click "OK". A new, resized copy of your image will appear in the same folder as the original. If your image is saved on the desktop, the resized copy appears on the desktop. SUPER SIMPLE!

CLICK HERE to download Resizer: http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe

Here's an example of a photo resized to 640x480 with the super-simple PowerToy Resizer. You can see it fits the Forum window just fine:
