Repeal 2nd Amendment Radio Debate

From the Illinois State Rifle Association this morning:

'Anti-gun Chicago talk show host Milt Rosenberg will be hosting a radio debate on the repeal of the 2nd Amendment to our Constitution on WGN Radio, AM 720, on Thursday March 26th.

Defending our Constitution will be Bob Levy, Chairman of the Cato Institute.

The debater who will be attacking our Constitution has not been named as of yet.

HERE IS WHAT YOU MUST DO TO DEFEND YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS:

1. Mark your calendar to listen to WGN Radio, AM 720, on Thursday, March 26, 2009 beginning at 9 PM. If you cannot receive WGN in your area, you can listen to the program live on the Internet at www.wgnradio.com

2. No matter where you live, please be sure to call the radio station's call in line at,312) 591-7200 and ask to speak your opinion on what has been said. It would be best if you voice support for the 2nd Amendment and Mr. Levy's statements rather than personally attacking whoever the antigunner is.

3. Please pass this alert on to all your gun-owning, freedom-loving friends, your gun club, and anyone else you know who would be interested in calling in to the radio show to defend our Constitution.

4. Please post this alert to any and all Internet bulletin boards or blogs to which you subscribe.

It is important that you call the radio station and continue to call until you get through to speak. The more pro-gun callers we get, the better. Don't let the antigunners use this forum as a vehicle for trampling on our Constitution!

Let's do what we can to generate a nation-wide response to this latest attack on our rights!'

This should be enlightening. It was Levy and one of his partners who denounced statistics about smoking related deaths!!! The CATO institute is also heavily funded by the tobacco companies.

Mayhap not the best choice for spokesperson then, eh?

Wonder if the choice was made by the station or somehow it's too late to change?

The Cato Institute stands for the principle of limited government, free markets, and individual liberty........all of which come into play with Government demonizing entire industries, like tobacco, but rather than totally ban them, they tax and regulate them....thereby condoning the use of their products....which is hypocritical. What message does this send to our children?
Algore and many Southern Congressmen are also heavily funded by tobacco...albeit indirectly nowadays.

JRS why do you repeatedly demonize those who elect to defend the 2nd Amendment? You seem to the first to reply with talking points found on the liberal blogs.

I posted it because its true LH. If you don't care to read the truth, don't read it. If you don't know about Levy and Marimont, find out. Levy defends anything that one is willing to pay him for. I really don't care what you think,or in your case, don't think) or say. No matter what I post, you have something stupid to say. Grow up and get a life!!! I said the CATO group is heavily funded by the tobacco industry. They also happen to lean more towards liberal than conservative. With that said, they aren't your kind of people. I'm not taking anything away from them. Prove me wrong LH.

Most lawyers will take on cases despite their personal beliefs.....even Hilary Rodham defended some college activists 'accused' of setting a man on fire while still alive.....and she's the smartest woman in politics.

I have more of a problem with the democratic party being funded by foreign socialists like George Soros than the American tobacco industry's fight for survival in our court system which is a no win situation.

I'm quite sure you meant to say CATO leans more towards LIBERTARIAN than conservative...in which case you are correct.
The Libertarian Party is synonymous with limited government, free market, and individual LIBERTY, hence the name Libertarian).
One who is a liberal wants expanded government, market regulation and control, and 'it takes a village' mentality.....witness current events.

I will take a Libertarian over a liberal ANY day.

In 50 years this will all be moot as the US will merely be a shell of a country like the shell of a country it is currently compared to 50 years ago. Until the US can fund itself and all of its entitlement programs, it is a house of cards anyway.
