Removing the eyepiece on a Leupold Competition

Hi. I have a Leupold 40x with brackney mounts and I’d like to remove them from the scope. It looks like in order to remove the rear ring the eyepiece will need removed. Is this an easy risk-free task? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you look at the back of the eyepiece, you will see a piece on the rear, that holds the rear lens assembly. It screws onto the back end. It has to come off, then there is a nut inside that comes off, then you can unscrew the other piece.
If you don't have the tools to do it, I wouldn't recommend messing with it. The reticle is right inside there and will disappear in an instant if you look at it sideways.
