Removing Stock Tape Residue

I removed stock tape from my fiberglass stock and now trying to remove the tape residue without success. I've tried WD40 and Goo Gone and reside won't come off - maybe heat the stock up with a hair dryer?

Suggestions appreciated!

Thanks

3M makes a product called "Adhesive Remover" that is available at most auto parts stores. It comes in aerosol and liquid versions. I've used it a lot and it works great. My guess is that it is little more than lighter fluid, at least by the smell.

If it's not painted, you can get pretty aggressive. I've used brake cleaner on unfinished gelcoat stocks without damaging anything. It works great. I don't recommend it on any other kind of finish.

You can get the adhesive remover at your local drug store.
I use a lot of it now ( don't ask) and I have to agree the spray works much better than those little swabs.

You can put saturated towel on it and cover with foil for a few minutes, this will slow the evaporation significantly and help the adhesive remover penatrate better.

DON'T USE A HEAT GUN!!
Excessive heat can cause the fiber glass to gas off and possibly bubble the gel coat.
I use wax and grease remover to remove stock tape glue, scraping with my thumb nail.
Makes a super sticky booger.

I had 3M Aerosol Paint Protector film on my motorcycle front fender for the last 6-1/2 years and it was looking kinda bad so I decided to remove it and nothing would take touch it. I sanded it with 3000 grit thinking at least that may not damage the paint and I could get it thin enough it would be easier. NO LUCK. Last resort I tried 93% rubbing alcohol and HOLY MACKEREL, it just softened it up and it wiped off with a clean terry wash cloth. That stuff is a vinyl product and no one on the internet has a solution for removing it when it's really old. I've tried alcohol on all manner of adhesives though and it's a no show for those. Usually orange oil or something based on it does the trick.

Look for some liquid cleaner at Dollar Tree stores, is called Awesome cleaner, a funky yellow liquid, comes in spray bottles or half gal size IIRC. Removed some adhesive from a SS Weber grill with very little effort. Will even do wonders on those greasy spots on clothes too (according to the wife). LOL

Naphtha is Googone without the aerosol.

Totally Awesome is the stuff jpx2rk is referring to. We use it in wore out spray guns, jack the pressure up to 60 or so.... go find the greasy'ist nasty caked on oil,and watch it disappear like Joe Biden's brain.Think automotive or old machines..... one tip, you're gonna want a rag or towel on the downrange side, "or else"... haha. Very good stuff, wear a respirator though. Even citric cleansers at these velocity/pressure will play heck with your lungs. But like, totally better than anything else we've used.
