removing military crimp on federal brass

please see attached youtube video of issue

shot a bunch of 308 brass fgmm and i was practicing with it for reloading. it has the crimp. i just used my lymen bench tool and put it in my drill but how much of the crimp do you need to remove, don't laugh but did i remove too much?,,, i figured i would push down on the tool and clean out the pocket as well. how far should the uniformer go down into the pocket?

also wondering if the primer in so deep will it be harder to detect over pressure signs?

it you have a pocket uniforming tool, all pockets should be to the bottom of the tool so they are all the same depth. all primers should be seated to the bottom of the pocket.

well, iguess my inquiry is the factory ammo, the primer was very flush with the head but when i seat my primers, they are in a lot deeper, the uniformer is not doing anything with the bottom of the primer pocket, only the sides and bevel on the corner/crimp. does this mean the factory primers were not seated on the bottom?

ok
the tool you describe is a crimp remover, not a pocket uniformer.'
it has nothing to do with pocket depth, some will let you cut too much from
the sidewall of the pocket,
how about a pic of a fired case base with a primer still in place

You should measure the depth of the primer pockets before and after removing the crimp. I suspect that it does not change.

What were the indications that showed that the primers were crimped?
1. stake marks on the base of the brass around the primer
2. harder than normal primer removal
3. harder than normal seating of the new primer

so i did measure before and after reaming. no change.

think i got it all figured out,,,, the primers are anywhere from .001 to .005 below the case head after installed.

so now you need a pocket uniformer..so they all sit at the same depth.
do not buy an ajjustable one. go to sinclair and buy their carbide cutter and a handle.
