removing ejectors

Since I really hate plunger ejectors in my varmint and target rifles I have had a bunch of them removed and filled by Greg Tannel and you almost can't tell it was ever there after he does the job. I think Carlsbad may do that work also.

I’ve done both. On some rifles I will just leave an empty hole so that I can reinstall the injector in the future. On others I have had the hole filled if I had the rifle or just the bolt at the gun smith.

There’s absolutely no functional difference that I can tell.

I don't like leaving the plunger in without the spring. The holes get filled with crud and the plunger can be hard to remove if you won't too later. Never know you may won't to do later on.

Years back, I plugged the hole for several HBR shooters because the loads they were shooting would result in a pretty distinct mark on the case face As metal flowed into the hole. The shine comes when you open the bolt and what is now a high spot rubs against the bolt face.
I pressed a tight pin into the hole a tad long. I then chucked the bolt up faced just enough off of the bolt face to match it up,
I haven’t done one in years, as custom actions kinda relegated the Remington to 2d class status.

This comment holds no truth.
What kind of “crud” do you let get inside your rifles? With normal rifle maintenance and cleaning as one should always do, you will never have any issues removing it later on. It’s not like the plunger fits in the hole super tight. It will fall right out when the pin is removed, if not, then a little WD40 and a light tap of the bolt face on a piece of wood will do the trick
