Remmington 700 bolt lugs

Have 2 RR prefix 700 actions with bolts, Are the lugs offset on the bolt, being the abuts are offset also or is that the way it is? I took a red sharpie and the bottom lug touches well but the longer lug does not touch at the top, ok let me explain pick up the bolt look at it 1 lug looks .040 farther toward the bolt handle than the other, I thought I was seeing things till I took out the other bolt, I'm confused thinking about just lapping them, I ordered a tool for lapping, need some guidance I don't want to get involved in having a gunsmith true it just kinda wanna play with it, these are remage so headspace is not a issue

Use a depth mic and measure from the receiver face to both lug abutments and then on the bolt. Even the long end of calipers would be close enough to tell if it way out like that. What I interpret you question to be, makes no sense or something is bad wrong. At least I've never seen offset lugs on anything, especially not a 700.

I usually don't make sense lol, they just look funny as in funny way off but I have a depth mic may do some micn, thanks

The abutments were at +- .002 across at 4 points, I may lap a small amount, I need a Ht gauge to chk the boltlugs, have a surface plate and need a jig, but will do a light lapp with 600 grit compounds

I don't understand how an overpressure event might have caused this. Would you mind explaining it a bit? I'm confused.
Every overpressure ive seen, like the short mags in a model 7, always set the bottom lug face back and usually cracks it next to the loading ramp on each side. Ive posted pics on here before. This isnt your popping primer type events, this is counterbore swelled and brass swaged in type stuff

If you have a depth mic, measure from the bolt nose to the front of each lug. Should be about .150. Now use a mic or calipers and measure the thickness of each lug and add that to your previous measurements. It won't give you a precise location, but it will find any gross errors like you're describing.

I think it may be the way I'm looking at it, without measuring I don't know

thank you
