Remington single shot??

Got a XP that I have converted to a rifle and I "love it"!
Question for those that know Remington. Were any older models made in "single shot"?

I thought that most of the XP100's were single shots. I have two single shot XP's that are made into rifles Art

I was thinking that a "single shot" with a .308 bolt face would make a great 6mmBR. Nice stock, big fat barrel, light trigger and a good scope. Couldn't ask for too much more!
That way my XP rifle in .221 Fireball would have a big brother. :D

Precher what kind of base is that on your pistol I have a XP-100 in 6BR that i am finishing up and was wanting a base like that, i was thinking of using the kelby base and ring set up but would rather use burris Zee rings and i dont like the windage style set ups I have the millet on another XP-100 that is coming of shortly, oh by the way that is a REALLY SHARP PISTOL !!!

Here is the target I shot today with the 29year old XP100 single shot 6X47 and 29year old Hart barrel, with 3000 rounds through it.
.222 and .431 groups and if I hadn't puller the last shot if would be .201. The last time I shot the gun was 8/17/04 and shot a .161 and .084. Art

The action you have is actually a Model 7 that Remington made some runs of as XP-100 Repeaters with appropriate roll stamping to identify them. They are good too and usually had a 700 style bolt handle rather than the "dog leg" one.

RickB: The XP that I converted into a rifle was a "single shot pistol in .221 Fireball. I pierced a primer, locked up the bolt and bent the dog leg handle getting it open. Shipped the bolt to Dan,Dans40X) and had him replace it with a longer handle.
I have seen some XP100Rs listed on ebay so they must be the repeters. Thinking of another single shot for a 6BR build. Maybe even a Savage.

Ouch!

RickB: What do you mean "Ouch"? WE all got to learn sometime! Some folks just just have to learn the hard way! ;) I did learn how to get the bolt apart! Never knew till that happened!
Anything after that is a piece of cake!! :D
,correction)I should have said that I've seen other actions listed on the "auction sites". Ebay won't do firearms. Guns America, Auction Arms,Gun Broker etc..

You are ok with your list but actually the 40x has a built in magazine the 40-XB Match was a single shot and the 40-XB BR was a single shot rifle. The XP action was the common action used when my first BR rifle was built in 1975. The XP was designed for the single shot pistol but was available to gunsmiths with an FFL as a seperate action. Page's book has a good section on the 40x BR rifle.
The Reminton 40x BR rifle was Remington's entry into the benchrest World back in 1969. Never had one but tried twice to buy one. The 40X BR was made in several classic BR calibers, like the .222, 6X47, and .308. Also .222 Mag and .223. You could get it with the Rem 2 oz trigger. I said this before for a time in the 1970's Remington had the entire BR rifle if you bought into their program. They made the action, the stock, the BR barrel, the BR scope, the 2 oz trigger, the cases, the BR bullets, the BR primers and they owned Dupont powders at one time. They also had Mike Walker and Jim Steckyl, no better support crew than those two. God Bless Remington they helped move benchrest foreward in more ways than one.
