Remington Model 7??

I have two Model 7's a 260 and a 7saum. I like them both, but I thought these guns were supposed to be light weight? With scope, the 260 weighs 7lb 11oz and the 7saum weighs 8lbs 2oz. WTH - that's not light weight at all. My Model 700 LA w/scope and MCM hunters edge stock only weighs 7lbs even. I mean I like the 7s but shorter barrels, smaller stock, shorter receivers. Where's the weight savings? I guess the MCM edge stock helps more then I thought, but still, my 700 mountian is a 24" LA w/scope and it weighs less, a lot less.

Hey new member here. Really have learned so much here. I have 2 Remington #7's I feel any lighter the 7SAUM, and the 300SAUM would be brutal in the recoil department, not bad hunting but at the range that is another story. So they only get shot to sight in and thats it. I still dont understand why Remington put such a thin recoil pad on the model 7? Lou
