Remington Model 600 6mm-284

I've recently come across an old box of ammo of my Fathers and as with most everything with him, he labeled everything! Not a bad habit for sure but my issue is I would LOVE to recreate his exact formula, but the label on this box is from 1981! Dad was known back in the day for loading them hot, or as his buddies would say "1 grain shy of blowin the barrel" which might be an overstatement so I'm going to give all info I can make out here and get your opinions and hopefully some clarification!

Cartridge=6mm 284
Case=Winchester
Primer=Remington #9 1/2
powder=(blurred) but looks like either #414 or 1414
Wt=47gr
Bullet=Sierra 85gr hollow point boattail

Any input on the above would be Much Appreciated!!!

Good luck.
Best advice is to start again and develop your own with new or annealed brass as it's unlikely any old brass you have hasn't self hardened and loaded cases are likely to have cold welded projectile too.

Give yourself a break IMHO.

That is ALMOST the exact load I use in my 243 win. Same bullet, primer, powder. BUT I use 47.5 grs. Of H 414. This would be a lite load for a 6-284.
It's a very accurate load for my 243 Win.

Tied with my favorite model hunting rifle, the model 660.

H414( win 760 )should work great for that, 284 brass holds a good bit more powder than 243 so I could definitely see that being a light load, unless the bullet is jammed ridiculously deep in the case.

The best suggestion, due to the age of the ammunition, is to decommission it and start fresh with new powder and primers. These two things may have changed a lot during the intervening years. I know powder lots have.

Take your time and work up a good, accurate load and enjoy your memories of your father's journey.
