Remington fieldmaster 121 .22 help

I have had this for years, it was given to me because the owner had taken it apart and couldn't put it together again. All the parts were supposed to be there but wern't of course. It does shoot if you single shot it but won't feed. The cartridge holder is missing and i have included pics of it and where i believe it goes. Can someone tell me if this part missing would be the feeding problem? Thanks for the help guys.

Thanks guys, I have done both. There are two different types of cartridge retainers, i believe the skinny one is for the model 12 and the taller one is for the 121. I simply want to be sure and buy the right one. Hopefully we have a fieldmaster fan here who can help me make the right choice.

Wisners makes them for the 12, the 121 might be same. Call between 1 and 3 PM and speak to Jim.

I called wisners kendog and got to speak to Jim, who explained that they started new serial numbers when the model 12 became the model 121 and i have the new style retainer coming which will allow me to see what else may be missing. Thanks for the help guys.
