Remington Bolt Release and Bolt Removal

I just saw a Remington 700 posted for sale. Seller mentioned it had no bolt release and was used for a bench rest match. How is a bolt removed from a Remington that doesn't have a bolt release? I am asking this knowing I can remove the trigger and bolt stop but do many shooters operate without a bolt stop installed? Thanks

Some run a small screwdriver or like tool down along side the action to push the lever to allow the bolt to be taken out.

As long as the stop is still in place itll be just fine. I use a pocket knife to release it

It's pretty easy. As Bill said, a small screwdriver or a pocket knife will do the trick on a Remington.

^^^As mike and others have said a small screwdriver is all it takes and the original XP100 pistols came from the factory this way.

And sooner or later, you WILL have an external release installed. It happens that way.

I found a broken popsicle stick years ago when the grandson was here. Its the perfect shape for my xp100s. I get nervous about metallic tools scratching as you insert them in that tight spot.

I just push down on the side bolt release...that I installed.

You can buy a Jewel trigger with a bolt release. You may have to relieve a slight bit of wood on the inside of the stock.
