Remington 700

Measuring twist is pretty straight forward.

Take a cleaning rod and put a dry patch so that it will push with some resistance but not too hard

Insert just past the chamber so the patch is in the lands.
Wrap masking tape around the rod where it is sticking out of your bore guide or action.
Put a piece of masking tape near the handle of the rod and mark the 12:00 position.
Slowly push the rod until the 12:00 mark comes back around.
Mark the rod at the end or your bore guide or action.
Measure the distance between the tape marks.
10 inches you say? Well your twist is likely 1:10.

Have a barrel with a less than integer twist like 1:7.83? Better take really precise measurements ;)
