Remington 700

I have a Remington 700 in 222 Remington that looks brand new but have been told it"s 20 years old.It has a target crown and gravings on it.S-E660****

It should have a date code,left side of barrel,just in front of recoil lug,and slightly closer to stock line.Something like "rn".etc. that's what you go by.I had one just like it in a .223,they made those probably late 1980's to early 1990's

Baily: Your post on the Rem 700, 222 got my attention. I also have a similar one. Bought from a clubmember 4 yrs ago who said he bought it new "20 yrs. ago". Original factory box idents it as a "Model 700 BDL " Custom Deluxe". Serial# B6294+++, cut checkering, plastic butt-plate w/ 4 screws, white line spacers, jeweled bolt, very high gloss blue. "AB57" stamped in front of the recoil lug, just above the stock, on the barrel. Crown is the rounded type, not recessed like yours. Originally drilled & tapped for your type of open rear & hooded front sights. Going to the "Blue Book of Gun Values", 27 th edition, page 1296, it's described that the receiver & floorplate were engraved 1997-2001. "supplied with iron sights the first year". Great little rifle: sub moa groups, with a barrel,bore) that is not "pretty". The dirtier the bore becomes, the smaller the groups/ go figure.
