Remington 700 SPS in 6.8 SPC

Anyone seen this rifle in 6.8SPC in their dealers? Mine say that none of the distributors have them and there's a waiting line to get them. This is a great coyote cartridge and the 700 SPS is priced right.

Well I have one, love it. It shoots Sierra 135 MK's great. I bought mine a couple years ago. It even has "1st production run" stamped on the barrel. I added a Seekins Precision Click Here detachable mag system to it also. Leupold LRT scope and hits on steel at 1000yds becomes a reality.

Hi Bob, I think Remington should market that round to go after a true dual purpouse youth round. I know that the 20" LTR will shoot well below 1/2 MOA with factory or handloads.

I HAVE A BRAND NEW- NEVER FIRED TAKE-OFF S.S. HEAVY BBL. MARKED "FIRST PRODUCTION RUN, 6.8 S.P.C. IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED..$125+10$FOR SHIPPING..

Well, I found out from Remington why no one can find the 700SPS in 6.8spc,even though it's listed in their product guide). Here's what they said:
"Thank you for contacting Remington country. The 700 SPS is no longer calibered in 6.8 that may explain why you are having a hard time locating it.

I also pulled the part number 27371 and ran it through our system and no distributor lists having this rifle at the present time. The last time this rifle was manufactured was 2006."

I like the cartridge and it will probably be introduced again if the military replaces the 223 with the 6.8.

I was going to convert an old Model 78 action, currently in 6ppc, to 6.8 but the bolt may or may not work. Also it's been converted to a single shot for benchrest.

Back to the drawing board.

I wanted one with a magazine instead of a single shot, don't always hit the coyotes on first shot and wanted a light carry rifle, not varmint). I live in Calif. so even if I found one out of state it's unlikely the smaller dealers/FFL's would ship here after 7-1 paper work requirement.

I'll keep scratching my head and see what I can come up with.

thanks
Bob

On my Savage conversion I used a 223 mag box and modified an AR15 6.8 mag follower and spring to fit. Nothing I did to the 223 follower would allow troublefree feeding. I opened up a 223 bolt face and had to do a little metal work on the extractor to get it all working properly.

2700 to 2800 FPS with the original SSA ammo.
