Remington 700 SPS 300 Remington Ultra Magnum 26"bbl

I have tried a few different bullets in my 300RUM the Hornady 178 grn A-Max & the Hornady 208 grn A-Max I am going to get a box of the Hornady 190 grn Interlock & give them a try I also have been considering the Sierra 200 Gameking SBT I am using Hodgdon RETUMBO & Hodgdon H-1000 . The load iam using is a 90.0 grains of the H-1000 It seems to shoot very good what do any of you fellas think of the 300RUM ?

I have a .300RUM and my load is 96.0grs of Retumbo with a 200gr Accubond. It travels at 3225f.p.s. and shoots right at an inch at 200 yards. It is MOST LETHAL on anything it comes in contact with!

I'm also using 96gr. of Retumbo, but with a 180gr. Nosler BT. I haven't ran it through the chrono but I estimate it around 3300 fps.

It will stay in the 1"-1.25 range @ 100yds if I don't develope of case of the flinches.

I tried H1000 and was about to give up on the thing, until I tried Retumbo.

Glad this thread was started.I'm considering the 300RUM as my next project. Are yall running 1in10 barrels? What about your actions what are they? I got a Hart 1in10 26"Rem Var strt.flute today and have a Rem700 SS LA Mag BF,HSP Sendero stock.
Whats yalls thoughts?

Rem action, Krieger 10 twist 27", hs stock. Nosler brass, 180gr accubonds, rem 9 1/2lr. 97gr h1000, chrono'd at 3540, shoots in the .300 at 100. Very close to max in this gun, so don't be stupid. Start lower please. Loaded round is longer at 3.660" col. Chamber was cut with a tighter than saami spec reamer

I tried a lot of different powders and finally what worked in my 700 rem. sendero was 82.0 grains of good ol IMR4350 with a 180 grain sciracco bullet. I get an average velocity of 3165 fps. This load was the most accurate I could come up with. It will shoot under 1.7 inches at 200 yards fairly consistent. I have shot better groups and settled on this load as this is accurate enough for me. I have killed a couple of mule deer and in the off season many rock chucks. My furthest shot competing with my buds was 478 yards on a rock chuck. It's amazing what a 180 grainer will do to varmints! ;D

I have 300rum I built up. it has 28in bbl and 700 action. it like retumbo and h-1000 but retumbo shoots a little tighter. I only shoot berger bullets and if I get rifle that don't like them I sell it! I am shooting 90grs of retumbo and 210 bergers and getting 3150fps. best group at 100yds for three shots was .008 also have gotten deer at 565yds and a elk at 965. I love this gun!

I believe that H870 was the match made in heaven for the 300 rum, but some one decided we didn't need it anymore.

I have only begun with the 300RUM

I tried H1000 and A-Max 178s because they had no other home. This would be a fine load. I have 208's and I'm sure they would be fine but they are for my 300WSM

The real goal is Berger 210 VLD. The gun is chambered for them.

I'm sticking with H1000

Saving Retumbo for the 330/300 RUM

What brass is being used and does anyone have any in stock?
I am using Norma 300 RUM.

I have Rem as well but is's really for the 338/300RUM.

The Rem was in stock in a couple places but can't remember where.

Do you have a reamer for your rig?

I am going to give the Sierra 200 Grn Gameking a try in my 700 SPS & iam saving up for a Boyds FT Thumbhole Forest Camo lam stock it weighs in @ 2.5 lbs & this i hope will tame some of the kick .I also am considering have my 700 SPS muzzlebraked but i have been told that it makes the gun VERY LOUD what do you fellas think about a muzzlebrake for my 700 SPS. I finally found a site that has those Sierra 200 grn Gameking SBT @ PCO.com for around $35.00 & free S&H & a 92cent charge for my CC. I am gonna use RETUMBO with the Sierra Gameking 200 grn SBT

Ha wow, it's kind of shocking to read about 97 grain charges and 33-3500 fps with 180-200 grain bullets. You guys must have steelier nerves than me, cuz I would want a tree between me and a sporter-weight 300 rum!
