Remington 700 firing pin

Has remington started using a larger body fluted firing pin from the factory? I've come across 2 now with the fluted firing pin that are reported to be factory rifles.

Sounds to me like somebody replaced the pin and spring. Matt

What do you mean by larger body? Remington has been using fluted pins for quite awhile now. Both fluted and non-fluted are ~.280" diameter.

Compared to a jlock firing pin they are larger in size and fluted.

The 4 mill fluted firing pin shanks were introduced in 2006 to present day production.

ISS/J-Lock firing pin shanks are tapered-hence the goofy mis-aguided mainspring.

And the mainspring seems to be about a foot too long too dan. Crammed in there to help accuracy no doubt
