Remington 700 firing pin spring

where can I purchase a firing pin spring that doesn't drag and bind in the bolt??
bought two from brownells this spring and they drag something awfull
I can actually see the pin fall when shooting a round

How many rounds do you have on your firing pin? Is it fluted? I've seen firing pins worn unevenly but usually in the 40,000 rounds down the tube range.

I have firing pin springs. and firing pins. Do you need your firing pin bushed? PM if I can help you out. --Jerry

allready been bushed, works fine with old spring

I've seen some really bad stuff from Remington over the years and the bored hole in the bolts for the striker are sometimes really rough. Remington drills the bore but dosn't chase it with reamer it seems.

*Take a paper clip, bend the most of it leaving one end still looped. Sharpen the straight end to point, the with pliers bend the pointed end about 3/16" 90°.
*Take the striker assembly out of the bolt.
*Grasp the looped end and insert the bent end into the bore of the bolt and drag the pointed end out feeling if the point drags across any burrs or ridges. If it feels rough, that could be the problem.

I have in the past polished the bolts bore for the striker with 800 grit then follow up with 1000 grit polishing cloth attached to a 3/8" turning it with a drill with a oak dowel rod being carful to not touch the striker shroud threads.

If that dosn't fix it, send the whole bolt assembly back to Remington. Call Remington first.
