Remington 700 feeding issues

Back ground,
New Remington 700 SA .308 in stainless was built using new components. Bartlein barrel, PTG bolt and bottom metal, rem spring, box and follower for a BDL build in a GRS hybrid stock.
The issue is when the rounds are loaded via bolt from magazine they hit the edge of the chamber and jam, not loading smoothly into the chamber.
I understand it is hard to troubleshoot not having rifle in hand but what are the theming stock look for and how to fix the issues for them?
The rifle has no other issues, shoots great, extracts easy, single loads fine.
TIA,
John

This often only affects the first cartridge in the magazine. May be as simple as just bending the spring to put a little more tension on the front of the follower. The factory cast steel follower is the worst. Wyatt makes good ones in hard anodized. If that doesn't do it, a little bending of the feed lips is in order.

Perhaps I'm not understanding correctly, but when I had feeding problems on a 700, I found that reversing the magazine spring solved the problem. The spring had been installed upside down with the "carrier" leg of the spring on the magazine floor plate. May have just been a fluke, but changing it solved the issue.

1 gunsmith I've used doesnt chamfer the chamber where the case hangs up on the chamber entrance. I specifically ask that they be chamfered now when I use him. Everything else he does in 1st rate though.

Hitting the edge of the chamber and jamming sounds like the chamber doesn't have a chamfer on the front edge. The rounds will hang up if the flat edge of the brass hits the sharp edge of the chamber. Have a smith chamfer or radius the edge and you should be good to go.

Sorry for the delay in responding, work as been bothering me to show up.
It will be this weekend before I can get a good look at the rifle and see if the posted information helped. If for some reason it is still an issue I will post a photo of what the issue is to give a better understanding of the problem.
Thank you to all the have chimed in so far,

SO I have a closely related problem on a Rem 40X 308 repeater. Ist round pops out of the feed lips. If I hurried stuff the others on top it'll stay in but now its the last round it pops out again and won't feed. Spring reversal and Wyatt follower is good info. I measured it and compared to my 30-06 Rem 700bdl and nothing funny on feed rails. The follower on the 06 has a more pronounced offset on the right/left side than does the 308. Anyone know how to fix this?

thanks
