Remington 700 bottom metal

I need to buy bottom metal for a Remington 700. It will go in a HS precision stock. I am considering buying the standard aluminum bottom metal from Pacific Tool and Gauge or the "Short Action Tactical Bottom Metal Remington Military Division - M40A3 Bottom Metal Assembly" I would like for it to be a drop in part. Suggestions?

Watch the classifieds and you can get new bootom metal and used or go to snipershide,over there they have many guys selling new takeoff for as little as 45.00.

See if PTG offers a steel SA700 tg replacement with the same footprint as the aluminum factory part... Get rid of the Rem aluminum tg floorplate ---it is ok for lower torque ( in.lbs ) specs but not for the higher "mil-tec 65 in-lbs" torque specs. This is due to the bevel head bolt design used and the narrow cross section of the aluminum trigger guard housing ---not a fault of the compressive strength of aluminum. The Rem tg does not pose a "problem" for the non pillar bedded wood stock or non solid fill fiberglass stocks ---and will even hold 45 in lbs torque against solid fill fiberglass stocks---they are fine for 98% of everyday use. Durability of the Rem bevel head aluminum tg does becomes questionable @ 65 in lbs --just my experience. Best---joe
