I have a new Bergara HMR Pro in 6.5 CM that I want to use in our 100-300 yd. club varmint benchrest shoots. I am having difficulties with the (I believe it is called) butt hook at the rear of the factory Bergara stock. My Protektor rear bag is evidently to large for the hook area and it totally disrupts the bag when firing off of my Randolph front rest. The Bergara design might be good for tactical but not so good for benchrest in my opinion.
Options I have come up with:
1. I have a friend with a 3D printer that might be able to fill the hook area in the factory stock. I did see KRG Bravo has a similar stock that has a removable piece in place that fills that area in. I am not sure of the KRG stock quality for benchrest if I was to purchase one. I do have a forearm plate on the factory stock that that should fit the KRG.
2. Find a reasonably priced benchrest stock I could place the Bergara barreled action in. I probably don't have the correct tools or knowledge to finish a stock. I sure would like to learn.
Any thoughts on what I could do to correct the factory stock issue or where to go to find a good benchrest stock.
Thanks in advance.
