Remington 700 300WSM Conversion Question

I just won a 700 SA SS 300WSM and have no interest in the caliber on a short action. I want to use the action for another build possibly a 222. I realize I can purchase the proper bolt and easily make a single shot. My question is what is required to use a BDL 222 box and have any chance of the feed rails working. Any help is appreciated.

Feed rails and ramp are cut far, far bigger on the Short Magnum receivers than the 223 ones. You’d be ahead to buy a 223 action for $300-325 that many places have them for, or trading into one with the rifle. There’s a lot more people looking for a SA Magnum action to build a 6.5 SAUM or the like, than there are looking for a 223. The only option I can see to make the action work for 223, is a new bolt, and AICS type bottom metal with a 223 mag, which will feed off the magazine’s lips and not the rails in the action.
