Remington 700 300 Weatherby magnum

My sister in law has offered me to buy a 700 in 300 Weatherby Magnum . Did a little reading on the cartridge and it sounds to be a beast to shoot .
Do any of you have the 700 in this caliber and what kind of accuracy do you get ?
How quick will it burn up a barrel ?
Eye relief is recommended at 4" which scopes give this much eye relief ?
Thank you ! Kenneth

yes it can be a beast but put a muzzle brake on it and enjoy. it is much better than a weatherby as you can seat your bullets out and get better accuracy. take your time and don't get barrel to hot. we put temp strips on barrel and try not to get over 120 degrees which is about 5 shots. one barrel has over 1000 rds and is still looking good. with brake you wont have to woory about eye relief. my grandson who is 15 will shoot it all day if I let him.

I have a 700 Classic in 300WBY that will agg. around 1.25"@200y with the 200gr Accubonds. The barrel should last along time as this is a hunting gun not a target rifle. Everybody has a different tolerance for recoil and the 300WBY is not that bad so I would not go with a brake unless you like wearing ear plugs while hunting. I'am a bear for punishment though as I my 7lbs 14oz 375H&H also has no brake. The Leupold 3.5-10's,2.5-8's and Zeiss Conquest 3-9's have never been a problem on any of the hard hitters.

She is sending it back to Remington to have the bolt handle repaired . I don't know how it came off , but sure Remington will either replace the bolt or fix it properly .
Guess this means I'll be buying more dies , powder , and bullets , at this rate I ain't never gonna get to retire .
