Remington 700 .204 stock help

Just picked up a used Remington 700 in .204 Ruger. Searching my options for best upgrades for this rifle. Fist off it has one of the “sticky” butt pads so that has to go. Wondering if it’s worth replacing the entire stock while I’m at it? Looking for ideas and opinions. Thanks

Look at the inexpensive sticks from Stockys.

they’re darn overlooked for their price range.

Some Remingtons come with a HS precision. If yours is the entry level synthetic, look for a stock with at least pillars, I prefer a full aluminum rail.

If your "sticky" pad was supplied by Limbsaver, contact Limbsaver and they should replace the pad at zero cost. They had thousands of pads that were not "cured" properly. They replaced a couple for me that came on a model 700 LVSF stock. Easy to replace the pad, no fitting necessary. The 700 LVSF stocks were supplied by Bell and Carlson.

I put an HS precision stock from Stocky’s on my Remington 700 204. Bought the rifle brand new and changed the stock before I ever shot it. The stock works great. It has the aluminum bedding block built in. Shoots 1/2” groups at 100 yards with N135 and 32 grain blitzkings. I think the stock was $400.

I have switched quite a few of my Remington varmint rigs over to the Boyd's thumb hole varminter stocks. I broke my wrist ten years ago and it gives me a little change of angle for the wrist.
