Remington 6br repeater????

Thinking of buying a 6br off a buddy that is on a Remington repeater action. He shoots it single shot and the rifle has a Hart barrel, fat short one that was chambered and installed at Hart on a pss stock. The rifle has had very few rounds put through it and it is a tack driver. I would like to use it for varmint hunting but not sure if it can be used as a repeater. What would need to be done to set it up as a repeater if needed correctly to feed reliably. If any of you fellows shoot one as a repeater how about shootin me some info on what you have done if anything. Thanks....DAN....

I've got a 700 I use as a repeater. I'm sure you can search the Mike Bryant magazine fix for specifics. Basically, you take a 308 box, cut & shim it to 223 length. Cut a 308 follower to 223 lenth, then put in a 223 spring: woalla. Some guys still have problems; not sure why. Mine feeds very reliably. You just can't put that 4th bullet in the mag (at least on mine), the spring gets tight & "pops" the first one out when you start forward. Three or less & no problem. If I shoot four times with the BR; I'm gonna need something other than a 5th round anyway!

I have modified Accuracy International magazines to feed 22 BR in my guns.

I believe you can also modify the AI 223 magazines as well.

What type of bottom metal are you using for your rifle to accept the magazines and are the mags already modified when you receive them. I would be interested to know. Thanks....DAN....

The rifle may have a bench rest follower in it. The ones I use just set on top of the original follower. Just pop the floor plate and see.

I have found if you dont attach the spring to the follower it can slide fore and aft causeing feeding problems. another thing of interest is the 6/22br feed out of the rem. 788/22-250 magazine flawlessly.
I havn't tried it yet but I beleive it could be made to work on the 700 rem.

Sir, I am using either the Badger bottom metal or the CDI bottom metal for my 700 Rems. The CDI is also available for the Winchester and Savage rifles, and you can send your stock to CDI for inletting.

The magazines are standard 308 AI mags, 5 and 10 rounders, fitted with a spacer in the back and custom followers and springs. However, as I stated, the AI polymer 223 magazines can be carefully opened up to allow feeding or the BR rounds. Just dont open the feed lips too much.....

Are the magazines from CDI already reworked to feed the 6br or are you doing this yourself. Thanks....DAN....

I cant beleive that someone hasnt started making these to sell to us. I would be down for at least two.
