remington 600 bolt body

I have a 600 or 7,( I forgot, need help there too) bolt body with two drilled holes. Will this affect the bolt? See pics It is for sale or trade for some high standard barrel weights for citation space gun barrel.

I am assuming those holes were drilled for additional gas relief ports? I had a 40X bolt that someone had drilled and it never seemed to affect anything. I guess I didn't realize any 600 series bolts had 700 style bolt handles unless it was changed at some point.

The bolt handle is the big giveaway.

Remington did re introduce the 600/660 in the early 2000’s, the 673. It had a 700 style handle.
But they are pretty rare, and the majority were sold in magnum bolt face.

I have never tried it, but a 600 and model 7 bolt might be interchangeable, if te rifle has the guide on the bottom of the right lug.

Jackie ,yes it does have the slot in the right lug. .

The reintroduced 600 Mohawk in 1972 did have the bolt guide, but also the goofy handle.

Also, that bolt appears to be jeweled in the clear picture. I have never seen a 600/660 with a jeweled bolt.

reason I thought it was a 600 cause I sold a complete 600 action to a forum member. Could it be to a XP-100?

Besides a model 7 bolt, it could be off a XR-100 (single shot version of model 7) or a XP-100R -- a repeater XP which actually used a model 7 action. They would all have a 700 style bolt handle and most were jewelled.

Are you sure that's a 7/600/XP length bolt? Also, the handle is an earlier 700 style. -Al

yes it is really shorter than a 700 SA bolt

My very early model seven has a smooth round knob. A later one has a bolt like that one
