Remington 40XB KS value?

Thinking of selling my 40XB KS single shot in 223 Remington. Very good condition but does have a couple of small chips in the finish. (This is the model with the composite stock.) Excellent trigger and very accurate. What's it worth?

I fondly remember my favorite gun shop getting phone calls for a gun value. They would say “Hold it closer, I can’t see it from here! Just a friendly reminder pictures would be helpful!

generally the 40x has suffered in prices. My outdated guess for a really clean XB KS is about 1250.00. YMMV

I had a guy wanting it. We made a deal both could live with. It was a great rifle but it was a heavy beast. Old age is forcing me to lighter weight rifles.

Firearm prices are shooting straight up for some items. Look at gunbroker. Hard to believe. I guess the good part is, if you own some of the favored guns you are in good shape. Steel semi auto pistols are getting very pricey, to name a few. Older HK semi auto rifles keep going up. Rem 700s//early ones are bonkers. I saw a 7-08 Varmint for 1700 approx? I think clean 40x rifles hold value pretty well. and super clean ones are still going straight up in value, after a bit of a lull the last few years.

The trick is getting two buyers wanting the rifle. A year or so ago I was in a local gun shop that sells on GB. The had a nice 40X on consignment, don't remember what it chambered for now but IIRC they were asking $1500. I came back a few days later and it was gone. They said two guys out of Texas wanted it and started bidding. It sold for $3600. Must have wanted it really bad. Heck I thought $1500 was high.

I sold my 40X repeater in .308 in a McMillan stock for $900 a couple years ago. Jewel BR trigger too. Gal I sold it to was happy; I was happy.
