Remington 338 Lapua Magnum

a local FFL should be able to order 1 for you. Davidsons might have 1 check with them also.

I don't think Remington produces a 700 in 338 Lapua Mag., I could be wrong as I don't have a new flier in front of me and it might be something really new.

I know that Savage has a Factory model 110 BA in either 300 Win Mag or 338 Lapua.

Any dealer should be able to order one, or keep an eye out on some of the sniper forums for a used one.

Remington has made a few 338 Lapua Magmums in 700 they come out of the custom shop. The first were for the military all come with PT&G solid bolts.

I saw one used in a sports shop. The rifle did not have a muzzle brake and the former owner said it was very uncomfortable to shoot.

I have seen (on the internet) a slow motion video of one being fired and the action had quite a it of whip (flex). I am told they are brutal on scopes and scope base screws

I have been asked to build 338 Lapua magnums on Remington 700 actions but refuse saying the action is not suited for such a large cartridge. I have seen several custom smithed with warped lugs.

A number of the aftermarket action makers IE: Stiller, Pierce, Bat, Barnard, etc. have special actions made for the 338 Lapua magnum. Either the bolt or the action or both are built heavier for the 338 Lapua magnum. They are much better choices for building a 338 Lapua magnum.

Just my observations and opinion.

Remington part number for the 338 Lapua is RAZ5645
I received 3 of these back in April. Extremely hard to get. I have no idea when the next run will be made. John

yea you must have a brake. i had a weatherby accumark in .340wm and handloaded for it beautifull rifle toped with a 3.5-10 vx3 leupold yea it was nice. was loading like a full case of RL25 cant rember something like 93grs behind a nosler 225gr accubond and the recoil was unbelievable and i mean unbelievable i could shoot 8 rounds before i was done. When you looked at that weatherby seems to have a great strong action, kreiger barrel,HS stock,i see no reason why a rifle built like that would not shoot.but it would not and i just wanted the kicking ---- to go away so i sold the rifle with scope on ot for 1,000 bucks.me and a few of my buddys just laughed ah wait to he shoots it and he will find out why he got it so cheep.I like the big 338 bore but you must have a break.

I have two .338 ultras. Rem 700 and custom model 70 with Krieger. Have taken over 100 animals in Africa with 250 gr. Barnes triple shock, loaded with MRP. Velocity is 2986fps in the hot African sun. Results are truly amazing. Have not ysed a brake as you never notice the recoil in the field but do use a lead sled in load development.
