Remember this when looking at your equipment

Just a reminder when you are looking at your equipment for up coming year, REPLACE your firing pin spring. If you have not replaced your firing pin spring in last two years or you have over 3000 rounds on your firing pin spring REPLACE it. It is the most import part of action and gun performance and the springs we use for Stolle actions is only 8.00. You really can not afford to not change the spring at that price and you would be surprised how many guys say rifle came alive again after the spring change. Stay away from speed springs and use what the manufacture uses.

question for Jim:
I have a current Nesika J action which is bought from previous owner:
how many rounds would you expect my Nesika needs to go thru before I change out the firing pin spring?
thank you
khanh

Jim couldn't be more on point on this subject. If you bought a rifle and have no idea how many rounds have been fired, change it. If you have rifle that you haven't shot for years and decide to put it back in service, change the spring. Chances are you left it cocked when you put it away. For you XTC shooters, the shooter is responsible for the 1st and 3rd rounds when the new rule books are printed, so no more using that as an alibi. Bottom line is that it lowers your ES and SD plus gives us piece of mine for $8.00 per rifle. If there is a down side to this I'd like to hear it.

Jim sells kelbly actions. Jim borden would be your best bet to answer nesika questions.

I had a guy ask where on our website was the firing pin springs, well not on website. Hope to have them there soon for web store. So if you need one give us a call and we can send to you.

If you do not know how many rounds have been through the rifle replace it now.

If you are in doubt, why not replace it. At the cost it isn't that much. I change my match guns every other year. Matt

[QUOTE="Snuggie308, So, you're suggesting that a Rem 700 spring be replaced with same? Thanks, Snuggie.[/QUOTE]

It happened to me at a 600 yard IBS in St. Louis. 4 month old Bat sv. With less that 1000 rounds It would fire about every 3rd try. It was in the middle of heavy gun relay. Just as they called for record fire. Had to finish with a different bolt. Luckily my dad and I have the same action. Springs are cheep and worth having it replaced. We both now carry extra. The people at Bat are very helpful. Thanks guys.

Thank you for the reminder. I just got done changing the spring in one of my Barnard actions. The action was second-hand and I wasn't sure if the original owner ever changed it.

Now I can go play when the next match appears...

Where did you get the spring for the Barnard?
