“Remage” barrels.

My nephew came into a Remington 700 300 Win mag that some guy tried to retap for a larger thread scope screws. The tap broke so the guy just essentially junked it.

the chamber is junk...and needs to be rebarrelled. I no longer have my lathe but I still have my action and barrel wrenches...so I’m looking into a Remage barrel. This is a hunting rifle so accuracy is important but not paramount. I’ve seen makers like Northland, and McGowan. Are there any others?

X Caliber and Shilen. Shilen doesn't use the 'standard' remage threading. They have their own way and their own barrel nut. But, it's a Shilen and works fine. Price is not bad.

Northland sells criterion (Krieger). Ragged hole is Wilson- just so you know what you’re getting. I’ve only had one drop in and it’s a Shilen originally for savage. It shot good. I’d buy a criterion now or Shilen 2nd choice. I guess you have headspace gauges so you may be able to fit a factory takeoff if you wanted.

A number of associates and myself have shot NRA Fclass records with CBI prefit barrels. Also the borescope reveals excellent workmanship of the rifling and chambers.

Stan Taylor at Douglas will make you one as well. I have one.

Shilen uses Savage large shank barrel nuts on their system, and it accepts the same large shank wrench.

And @Stan Taylor barrels will shoot. I have a 6 Dasher 12 twist and been having trouble getting 80 Barts BT bullets to shoot. I switched powders to 8208 and shot 6 three shot groups at 200 yards this morning. All with different seating depths. Groups were .537", .580", .657", .511", .175". The 6th group was BIG. Velocity hung in the 3225 area.

Urbanrifleman,
Have a buddy looking for a 6.5 Creedmoor barrel for Rem 700 in the barrel nut configuration.
Any chance you will be making them?

I have no immediate plans to stock that caliber. I would suggest the 6xc with the 160 freebore for the 115 DTAC would smoke the 6.5 Creedmore.
