Rem Model 700 SPS Varmint .243 Win Reloading Help

I have the gun listed in the title and it has a 24" barrel with a 1:9.125 twist. I am having trouble finding a combo that with shoot in my gun. I'm wanting to do some competition shooting and possibly some groundhog slaying :).

I was wondering if you all could give me some advice or loads that you would recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Stephen

sierra has a 95 grain matchking bullet that would be my 1st choice for your twist barrel. check out the 243 info page also.for powder i like imr 4064 or 4350. i've been reading about some people using some of the slower burning powders for longer barrel life. 243 is a nice fun to shoot caliber. cliffe

I've been shooting the 87gr. VMax in two Factory .243's with excellent results. Using Win brass, Fed GMM primers and H414. Seated the bullets to the standard 2.710. Not sure about competitions, but the VMax has produced good results on coyotes and jackrabbits.

the rem 700 sps varmint 9 1/4tw is 26"bbl. i shoot the same gun in .243. last year 1-3-500 groundhog matches and in the field for @100 groundhogs and 2 deer.don't expect <1MOA with that worthless plastic stock! i have tried modifying mine for weeks bedding, floating balancing and finally dumping it for a H.S.Precision
90gr lapua scenars-H-4350
95SMK-95 Bregers
87 v-mav
105 A-max lost to the others

Thanks guys. I'll definitely try some of these combos. Any others? Can I shoot the 107gr Sierra or is there not enough twist for that weight?

Rem06, that depressing knowing that I already wasted the money to bed and float the gun....

I'm using 41.7 of reloader 15 with a 65 grain Vmax. this is a one hole load in my old Remmy BDL. It doesn't show me any pressure, but work up anyway.

the stock is molded and has so much oil in it for a release agent that it won't hold bedding and will start cracking especially once it gets cold.just keep that in mind if your groups wander or start flying around. 90gr scenars rock!

Rem06 is right...those stocks have much to be desired...seem to be worse than the old 700 ADL stocks. Watch for a good deal on an HS precision stock. May even find one on here.
