Rem 700 Trigger Question

I have a nice 223 Prairie dog and general purpose rifle--Rem 700 with an Urban barrel , Bell Carlson stock--I love it!
It had a Timney Elite Hunter trigger --nice trigger but best it will do is 1lb 8 oz
I want a lighter trigger but I have to have bolt release and safety
WHAT do I want?? I would slap a Diamond in there in a minute but again I need bolt release
Timney has an 8oz but it is a two Stage--never had one--is that the way to go or??
Thanks for your suggestions --I want a trigger I can order today

When my Jewell wore out on my .308 TR Rifle , A Shillen was highly recommended by some very highly ranked record and championship holding shooters . I followed their advice, and couldn't be happier ! Pull is 2.4 ounces out of the package .
Don’t know if your Shilen has a bolt release or not but mine doesn’t. He wants one with a bolt release but all a person has to do is use a small screw driver or thin bade to release the bolt. I have both Jewell’s and Timneys but for a bench rest trigger I sure do like the Shilen. I have slammed the bolt and the rifle butt on the ground and it has never fired. My Shilen also does not have a safety either. Running the Jewell’s in F Class rifles plus hunting rifles. Probably go with a B&A or back to Timney on my next build.

No . Trigger does not have a Bolt release , but I'm pretty sure they make one that does have a Bolt release .
They do, the Standard. I do not believe that the Comp is available with a safety or bolt release where the Standard is. The lowest weight listed for the Std is 1.5lbs. I have two and think they will go a bit below that but I haven't checked mine in a long time.

The trigger I have is the Shilen Comp. It doesn’t have a bolt release or safety and I think I am correct in saying 3-6 ounces Adjustment. Not sure but think that is right.

A poorly built trigger will feel worse than a properly built one. An XMP trigger thats been gone through and tuned well at 1.75lbs will feel better than a 1lb rough trigger. I have several Jewel triggers, each one is different and feels different, even with roughly the same pull weight. I have several Shilen triggers, same story.

Check out the Sidhe options now available if you want a truly good trigger. I got one for my new F/Open build, I've been dry firing it to get a feel for it (gun isn't completely finished yet) and it is amazing. Yes, they're expensive, but for a reason. Keep the timney so if you ever sell the rifle your favorite trigger doesn't go with it. Ive bought a number of used guns with triggers I didn't like. Would have been nice if they just had a cheap factory trigger and lowered price a couple hundred, then I could have put what I liked in them.

Jard makes some nice options for about $200
With Safety and Bolt release
Check Brownells for best price
if you dont wish to pay near $500 for Elite status
I have used one on a hunting light 284 custom build with one of their Set triggers that adjusted at 2 lbs
and then 2 oz when set for the finer work.
Worked flawlessly, I have heard some guys with tastes for Jewell's didnt care for them for some unexplainable reason.
I like my Timney Targets 500T's at 8 oz (No longer made and was one of their best triggers)
my Shilen BR at 2 oz and the Jard was on par with them
For a gun that sometimes is used for hunting purposes as well as Bench work and load testing.
it seemed like the perfect choice.
The "Set" feature works like a Canjar but seemed less finicky in its adjustment
