Rem 700 side bolt release

I'm looking for blueprints or dimensions to machine my reciver for an external bolt stop. The few prints I found online definitely left a few things to be desired. Any help would be great.

Thanks

scroll to bottom of page for link to pdf drawing

are you going to use a commercially available unit or what??

Between the LRI blueprint and the rifleshooter drawings, I'm not sure what else you need.
The Lawton will have slightly different dimensions, I'm sure. Modify your cuts to suit.

If I wanted to install a side bolt stop in anything, one of my fist choices would be to install a Ruger 77 stop., especially if the action will see a lot of rapid fire use. I like the cushioning feature, which reduces the chance of deforming the lug. WH

I just looked into the Ruger stop. Interesting design. I'll have to look into this as an option for Remingtons. Thanks!

I have some Remingtons in the rack, doing nothing. Maybe I'll do one once I get caught up a bit. I spent all day today in the excavator and dump truck, but I'll get back in the shop soon.
I had planned to put a Ruger stop on my Model 54 Winchester but decided to go with a Mauser stop instead. WH

hey Will are you talking about the mauser style bolt stop like my 77 has on it. i have thought about adapting a mauser bolt stop to a 700.

Yes, but the Ruger is a lot different than a Mauser. The Ruger requires that you mill a flat, drill and tap one hole, and mill a hole for the stop. The stop itself is cushioned by the spring. Ideally, the stop is able to come back until motion is stopped by contact with the receiver. For a Mauser stop, you have to mount a stud on the receiver and mill the hole for the stop. The ejector is left out, of course. I used the Mauser on My Model 54 just for the classic look. I'll show it on the channel one time. WH

I prefer the Anschutz. Whatever you decide on make sure you place it back far enough to eject the round.

I had to make a small cut on the front ring on this one.
