REM 700 SA

So...I have purchased a REM 700 SPS Varmint in .223. I was going to use this as a parts rifle for making a long wished for .20 Practical. So, my youngest grandson says that he likes the rifle. Now I guess I'll just keep the same caliber and just build the gun up for him. The SPS has a blind mag. I will be getting him a BDL type stock. So, my question...Do I need the bottom kit for a REM SA or does it have to be specifically bottom metal for a .223??

Yes and yes. It will need the 223 bottom metal either for DBM or hinged bottom as factory BDL offers.

The .378" face S/A mag boxes have a partition added into the aft end of the box.
ADL & BDL mag boxes differ in height.
